Common questions

On reading a meal without a wearable, using it as someone who eats out, and what GlycoWave does not do.

Do I need a glucose meter or a CGM?

No. GlycoWave does not measure blood glucose and needs no wearable. You snap or type the meal, and the AI estimates its glucose-impact risk level and how you may feel afterwards based on what is on the plate. Every figure is an estimate, not a measurement.

Why do I get so sleepy after lunch?

The post-lunch slump often tracks with what the meal was made of — heavy on refined starch, light on protein and fibre tends to produce the two-hour crash and the 3pm sugar craving. Sleep, stress and activity matter too. GlycoWave lays out your own logs so you can see which lunches carry you to the end of the day and which ones end it at three.

Does it work if I eat out every day?

That is exactly who it is for. Bento boxes, noodle shops, dumplings, convenience-store food and bubble tea all get recognised. No lookup tables, no weighing, no meal prep — about ten seconds per meal.

Do I have to count calories?

No. GlycoWave never asks for grams or calorie lookups. What you get is a risk level, the nutrient balance, a forecast of how the meal may land, and one adjustment you can actually make at the next meal.

Is GlycoWave free?

The download is free. The free tier analyses 3 meals a day and shows the last 3 days of history. Pro adds more analyses and full history. New installs get a 3-day next-meal suggestion preview with no automatic charge.

Is my meal data uploaded?

Meal records stay on your device — there is no account sync. You can export them as a PDF monthly report or CSV at any time.

Can people with diabetes use GlycoWave?

GlycoWave is a food-logging tool, not a medical device, and it does not replace glucose measurement or clinical advice. All GI/GL and post-meal figures are AI estimates. If you have diabetes, are under treatment, or need personal medical judgement, consult a qualified clinician.

How do the dinosaur and the walk work?

After you log a meal you can take a 15-minute walk with the little dinosaur in the app, with steps synced from HealthKit. Finishing it earns a vitality leaf and growth XP so the dinosaur levels up. Skipping the walk costs you nothing — it never gets sick, never loses levels, and never has unlocked items taken away.
